The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (It buono, brutto it, it cattivo in Italian) - 4 stars (excellent)
After enjoying unexpected commercial success with "A Fistful of Dollars" and "A" Few Dollars More, the Italian director Sergio Leone completes his trilogy of "Spaghetti Westerns" with "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly."
Surprisingly, even at this point in his masterful Western movies made in Spain, Leone would not enjoy a nickel worth the adulation of critics and prize give Laurel a single price to Clint Eastwood Action performance, and was also runner-up.
Hollywood and its stars Sergio Leone ignored as they have Johnny Depp. They refuse to acknowledge that even westerns or pirate images can be skillfully made and unique performances, to act. Clint Eastwood is the man without a name, and Johnny Depp is perfect as the pirate Captain Jack Sparrow. There will never be another equal, either in these roles.
At least one director, writer and actor Quentin Tarantino has identified Leone The Good, the Bad and the Ugly "directed the best film of all time." It was Tarantino who gave moviegoers "Reservoir Dogs". "Pulp Fiction" and "Kill Bill (Vol. 1 and Vol.2)" among others.
But back to Leone, who helped write the screenplay with the most Vincenzoni Luciano. It was Vincenzoni who had the idea for the movie three rogues in search of a treasure at the America's Civil War and its title.
The triangle of rogues included the Good (Clint Eastwood, a professional shooter called "Blondie" in this film that would become The Man With No Name in the upcoming film division of the West's character), the Bad (Lee Van Cleef, a self-centered Hit Man called "Angel Eyes") and the Ugly (Eli Wallach, an outlaw called egocentric "Tuco").
Long story short, the plot is to first establish the three rogues as bona fide killers. Blondie becomes a bounty hunter nickname in partnership with Tuco, turning goodness, rescue before he was hanged, and repeat the process until Blondie leaves Tuco in the desert to die. Tuco survives, and lives to find Blondie and return the favor.
As Blondie is about to die while being forced to walk across the desert by Tuco, they are interrupted by an out-control, driverless transport loaded with corpses. Unless one body, Bill Carson, lives long enough to say where Tuco $ 200,000 in gold is buried in water exchange. While Tuco goes for water, Carson said Blondie's grave in a cemetery exactly where the gold is. Suddenly, they have a compelling reason to become partners again.
Dressed in the uniform of the Confederate dead, Tuco takes Blondie, which is close to death at a local Catholic mission run by Tuco's brother, a priest. Blondie's recovery is going well, but reconciliation with his brother Tuco did not.
Blondie and Tuco leave the mission and end up being captured by Union soldiers and taken to a prison camp where Angel Eyes (now a sergeant in the Union) supports personal torture of prisoners. Angle Eyes is aware of the gold, beat her senseless Tuco executor, and learns the name of the cemetery. He then turns Tuco in goodness, free Blondie (who knows the exact location) and he and his band of thugs five head for the cemetery with Blondie.
Tuco manages to escape on the way to his hanging, landed in a city Union forces bombed stupid, and runs smack Blondie, Angel Eyes and his band of five. Blondie and Tuco to kill five escapes thugs as Angel Eyes, and now all three are heading to the cemetery.
On the way to the cemetery, Blondie and Tuco in a full run.
