Led by Captain Kirk (William Shatner), an astronaut who displays the traits necessary for survival of the mission of the Earth, the crew of the Enterprise includes Lt. Commander Spock (Leonard Nimoy), a commander in retirement and scientific theoretical Vulcan, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Leonard McCoy (DeForest Kelley), and a variable and talented supporting roles, including roles and cameo appearances by famous personalities of the 1960s. Together, they undertake to carry out their appointed task: "to explore strange new worlds, to seek a new life and new civilizations ..."

The Star Trek (Season 3) DVD features a number of action-packed episodes, including the first season of "Spock's Brain" in which the company is intercepted by a mysterious unidentified spacecraft. An alien ship from the beams on the bridge of the Enterprise and makes the entire crew unconscious. When they awaken, McCoy informs Kirk that the alien has confiscated Spock's brain. Now the Enterprise is responsible for locating Spock's brain before the body decomposes ... Other notable episodes from Season 3 are "Plato's Stepchildren" in which the inhabitants of the planet Platonius enjoy the kindness of the crew of the Enterprise, to enslave them by telekinesis, and "The Way to Eden "in which the company is taken hostage by a band of Earthlings in pursuit of the mythical planet Eden, a garden and the world of health, purity and happiness ...
