In the 2010 version of The Karate Kid, Jaden Smith plays the role of 12-years, Dr. Parker. Dre and his mother (Taraji P. Henson) moved from Detroit to Beijing. The first day in China, Dr. goes to the neighborhood park and sees a young budding violinist. A brief interview with Dr. Land is the hot water with Cheng (Zhenwei Wang), the terror of the school. Fortunately for Dre, Repairer his building turns out to be Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), a master of martial arts. With trains help Dr. Han kung fu so he can head to tyrants tournament battles to come.

The synopsis sounds familiar, but the changes are significant. The backdrop of Beijing is not simply a change of place, Jackie Chan Mr. Han is not a carbon copy of Pat Morita, Mr. Miyagi, the martial art and has been tipped as eleven. Even with the predictability of working against it, The Karate Kid offers many surprises.

Jaden is a charismatic young actor. His interjections of comedy and dance are additions welcome. His interactions with Taraji P. Henson almost assure the public that he is his son. He is also obvious that he has put a lot of time in kung fu training. Newcomers Wenwen Han and Wang Zhenwei play the love interest and roles nemesis, respectively, I'd welcome be back for another production.

Clearly, the most important factor in this film is Jackie Chan. In the presence of Chan, the fight must meet a certain standard, and it does. Kicks are fast and fluid, punches coming from all directions, and aircraft movements are jaw drop. This should be expected, but the real shocker is the yield Chan puts together. Do not give too much away, but the motivation of Mr. Han is touching and true. I saw a dozen of Jackie Chan movies, and it is by a mile his best and most original.

Whenever Judai appears, I can not help thinking he does not the game. His character is 12 but looks about 9. The themes that I think that the fight against too mature for his age. Even with the shock of seeing early tweens battle, everything is finally believe him. It's from Nice to see a PG movie in 2010 that does not underestimate the intelligence of children, even if the more appropriate title would have been the Kung Fu Kid (this is the international title). The Karate Kid remake reached rarefied status successfully.
