Marketplace | No Country For Old Men Is Baja California''No Country For Old Men''? Just a few years ago, around 2 or 4 years may be, whenever people think of Baja California, especially the border cities of Tijuana and Mexicali, which typically comes to mind are the beaches of white sand gold and desserts. Scenes colorful markets filled with vendors Hawking ridiculously cheap goods and food stands of many cooking-up tacos, burritos and churros by the hundreds may flash into your mind. Or you can imagine many college girls in bikinis sunbathe on the break and the occasional rowdy 18-year old gringos drinking at cantinas like there's no tomorrow.
But recently, they are not what people have in mind now, when Baja California and Mexico border towns are mentioned. This idea of a tropical paradise near inhabited by beautiful women who can cook amazing food is replaced by a sad thought of a country that is home to countless drug dealers, car thieves, kidnappers, vandals and other miscreants. Recently, especially during the latter part of last year, the public has been bombarded with news and reports that Mexican border towns have soaring rates of crime. Tourists and travelers are constantly warned against the dangers in border towns of Mexico and are actually discouraged by their own country to avoid crossing the border and on vacation in border towns like Tijuana and Rosarito in the peninsula of Baja California , Mexico.
This can be attributed to the combination of increased crime rate mixed with an exaggeration of the media. But for sure, investors and tourists have become tired of visiting the border towns of Mexico and industries in these cities are clearly suffering.

Having said that film was directed by the Coen brothers' ingenious and infamous Hollywood celebrities celebs A list-like Javier Bardem and Tommy Lee Jones. I must say it was a film really well designed, and after 122 minutes in the muffled silence of the theater surrounded by nothing more than the height and dark scenes Films projected on the big screen is 40 feet, Old Country for Old Men left me with mixed feelings because I think it may even indirectly exacerbate the opinions that people have towards security in the border towns of Baja and the rest of Mexico.
As amazing and awesome movie can be, for me had disturbing aftertaste. Reader, you do not need to be wary that this article would give every important story in the acclaimed film "No Country for Old Men" because it will not. I would however, need to give you a brief idea totally vague about what the film is just about if you have something to understand before reading on others. The main plot of "No Country for Old Men" revolves around a drug deal gone wrong in US-Mexican border town, this large exciting film in turn make you cringe, and I think the action is place and violence.
What concerns me is that the quality greater than the life of No Country for Old Men, which many viewers and critics called it "extremely realistic and undeniably" may also add to the overall impression the border cities and those of other Baja in Mexico are not safe and are a refuge for criminals. It is not unlikely that someone who has never been to Tijuana or Mexicali may think that these cities are full drug trafficking and extortion since the negative news about cities borer greatly coincide with the ideas represented in the film.
No, I do not say that the Coen brothers, the film's producers or anyone else for that matter has to consciously work to ruin the reputation of these border towns of Mexico. The film in all its aspects wa. Posted on July 1, 2010.
