Night At The Opera, APrime time serials Making Waves in TV Ratings

Usually when someone talks about soap operas that come to mind are the dramas of television during the day that captivated many housewives more than five decades, with new fans across the board time.

daytime soaps are more popular than ever. Many women and even some men, have been the result of these endless shows never repeated for almost religiously.

The soap operas are more recent than those aired during television prime time, somewhere between 7 and 9 pm at night. These soap operas at night came on the scene during the 1970s. The first ones were very big hits were Dallas and its spin off show, Knots Landing. These soaps are a bit different from their counterparts day.

Following the example of these pioneering night dramas in recent years have been shows such as ER, The OC, Desperate Housewives, and one of the latest hits, "Grey's Anatomy.

These new issues have a more even bigger than the first. entire seasons of many of these prime time soaps can be purchased on DVD today and their reruns are already being broadcast on satellite and cable channels.

Evening shows such as those mentioned, were the catalyst that blew up several of their actors and actresses to stardom. Brad Pitt, for example, I have one of his first important role on Dallas. Pitt has also acted on soap day, another world. Joan Collins had acted for years, but his fame has reached its peak after she played on Dallas.

George Clooney, although he acted for a while, really became famous playing an emergency room doctor on ER in the 1990s. Today, Pitt and Clooney are two of the biggest stars around, and Demi Moore, who also made his debut in the drama of day.

On the hit series, Desperate Housewives actresses Marcia Cross, Felicity Huffman, Eva Longoria and Terri Hatcher, all seem to be about equally sharing the same show that brought them. It has been for several seasons and shows no sign of abating fans.

There must be two elements that make soap operas in prime time so attractive to a wide audience and involved. The first reason is that they often have such bizarre story lines they could probably never be a situation in our own mundane life.

The second rationale, that some story lines may strike us so close to home and pack such emotional power, as we begin to feel a real connection with the characters we have grown to love. These shows give us two sides of a coin, so to speak.
