NeverEnding Story, The

NeverEnding Story, TheHow to win a rock solid linguistic confidence

One of the most common reasons people stay poor speakers of foreign languages is that they are too ashamed to use language coherently. Big mistake. Huge (as Julia Roberts said in Pretty Woman)!

You need to practice if you want to get a master (or any other strong language level, really). It's so simple!

You wonder now how can you practice if you do not feel confident enough, right? I totally get your point, believe me ... but as the saying goes, sometimes you just have to jump and learn to swim along the way, if you're stuck in a vicious cycle of shame and mediocrity. Ugh! Not the most fantastic place to be, right?

Let me help you here, OK? There are seven simple truths that you can start to appreciate immediately burn your linguistic self-confidence and knowledge to a whole new level.

1. Overall confidence is a must if you want to win the language!

It is pretty obvious, is not it? If you are generally insecure, you probably feel uncomfortable around people no matter what language you are using right now. However, it is very likely that a foreign language will make you even more nervous than your all-native, so if you want a chance to be confident (rather too self-conscious) as a user of the foreign language take care of all the self-confidence first. Before "losing" time to something else!

    2. Errors you aware - not only good, but 'freakin awesome!

Yes, mistakes are annoying, especially when you're the one who makes them - can deny that good, eh? But do not be too upset - mistakes can really make a favor if you XXL you've been listening to their message. Learn from your mistakes, analyze them and start using appropriate expressions and grammatical forms right away! No waiting and bluster deadline. Ever.

      3. No one is perfect - no, not even you!

I'm sorry for stepping on toes, but in language learning there is no such thing as perfection, the best we can hope for is competence. The next time you're afraid to show your imperfect knowledge of languages in the world, remember that when it comes to human perfection is a myth. Coping and moving forward - maybe you start enjoying your attempts less-than-perfect-but-sooooo adorable to conquer foreign language skills.

        4. Look for opportunities to speak and write in your target language ... again and again!

It's a never ending story, you know, right? Mastery requires work and take intelligent action. In the magical world of language learning, this means you never stop looking for opportunities to use your language skills in writing or orally, preferably in communication with native speakers of the target language. Get a correspondent, chat online, join a local organization of international students, travel, leaving your mother tongue at home ... I'm sure you will find a way!

          5. Put in your effort to speak and write - and please use the new vocabulary you just learned!

Sometimes, to follow the movement is not the best strategy. If you do not care what you say or write, keep you stuck in the same language level - and this is the best. The worst scenario shows your knowledge deteriorate because of the repetition of mistakes that are now ingrained in your mind. To avoid horror movies, check your script from time to time - integrate your words most recently acquired and / or grammatical structures in your writing and speaking, even if you're not 100% sure how. Keep trying and you'll get there ...

            6. After each exercise speak or write, write the words or grammar patterns that you had a difficult time.
