How to Make a Strawberry Layer Cake Chocolate Chocolate and strawberries! What's better? There's just something about the two together that can really satisfy the taste buds of man! Be even better by dipping the strawberries halfway on its side in the melted chocolate and add a whole strawberry dipped in the center. Cake Chocolate LAYER STRAWBERRY
2 eggs
1 1 / 3 cups sugar
1 1 / 4 cups all purpose flour
1 / 4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1 / 2 tsp teaspoon baking soda
1 / 4 c. salt
2 / 3 cup vegetable oil
1 cup buttermilk
v. vanilla extract 1 tsp
1 / 2 cup strawberry jam
1 pint fresh strawberries, hulled, halved
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and lightly flour two cake pans 9 inches and set aside.
Beat eggs and sugar in a small mixing bowl until light colored and thick. In a large bowl, sift flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt. Add vegetable oil, buttermilk and vanilla to flour mixture and mix until smooth. Stir eggs and sugar mixture. Pour batter evenly into two prepared pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cool in pans on rack for about 10 minutes. Remove the cakes to racks and cool completely. Place one layer on a serving platter. Go to the top of this layer with the strawberry jam, canned cover with second layer. Prepare icing and frost top of cake. Garnish with strawberries by placing berries in a circle, cut side down, around the top edge of cake.
Frosting:
1 cup whipping cream
1 / 3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 / 2 cup confectioners 'sugar'
v. vanilla extract 1 tsp
Beat the cream with cocoa powder, icing sugar and vanilla extract. Spread icing on top of cake; Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. Garnish with strawberries, as indicated above, just before serving.
