Knife In The Water

Knife In The WaterCrazy Ocean Swimmer: Your knife is your first and last line of defense

It took a while to get here, swimming in the ocean as an excuse. I had enough to eat every two days. Just Can not Get me a run or a hike. And I missed the ocean of time. thinking I might have a little visit and get a job fast, I went for a short swim.

Before I knew it, I'm going three times a week for over a month. Making a strong swim without rest. And I could not see, really see new lines, the shadows on this new body I had not seen for so long. So, I decided. That would be my new way of working on. Two to three times a week, I swim for 20-30 minutes (Of course, I timed). And we'll see.

Shortly after the first month, I watched Jaws on television one night. And then, just after the same night, I watched "Shark Attack" on Animal Planet. Oh, baby. That's it. Scared me mad all over again. But I must do my race. I can not stop now. So what do I do? Uh-huh. out my dive knife very strong and the bracelet on my right calf.

Now I'm standing on the shore again, warming up for swimming. My dive knife is on my leg and I do not feel much better. Come. I know I am little chance against a shark. Shoot. Chance is stricter, as it. Man, I'm afraid. I'm swimming for more than 10 minutes straight out of the ocean, then back again. just me. But I have to. I can not stop. Fear, and in this case, just pisses me off! So, I tie my hair back, take a walk into the ocean and scuba. There's sweat to be here in this blue water.

This magnificent bay in the shape of U in the smallest village in the south of a very small tropical island located above the equator, whew! Well, it's my very large pool. On this occasion, rare, water is clear and blue. The visibility is about 30 feet. A clear day today. did not like at all. Much drier days, these days (everyone warming?). No recent influx of sediment and all kinds of garbage and debris fell from the mountain burned and deposited in the ocean. The inshore reefs and marine life to enjoy a few days of clean air. It is painful to know that all it takes is one good rain to make this living water looked dirty and dull blue again. And as much as I do not want the earth needs more rain.

I'm almost at the halfway mark. Keep the pace. Flip diving and kicking the wall is the ocean and head back to shore. Make sure you keep a little boost in my stride. I think if a shark actually attacks me, I just do not want to go down. Oh, no. I'm not letting a shark take me away from my life, my family. If I get down, baby, you're coming with me. And that is why I have my dive knife very strong.

I stopped a moment to swimming, fake an attack against me, it's pounding in my head that I must remember to catch this knife, no matter what. Pound snout. Headbutt if I should. Jam my fingers in his eyes. Shove my hand through his gills. Oh, yeah. It will not be easy. I'm too aware that only the ocean swimmers have successfully survived an encounter with sharks. If it comes to that, it will I.

Now I am home mid-way through the other end. The last minutes of the final straight. Done again. I'll tell you, I jumped from a boat in the clear blue water way, way, out into the ocean. Hundreds of feet deep on a sunny day with not a thing in sight, above or below the water. There's nothing like it and few things are nearby. And whatever I get scared and scared quite often doesn fear.
