Days Of SummerOverexposed - Advice to stay protected from the sun in the heat of summer

As formulator and manufacturer of all natural herbal personal care products, I am often asked if the products contain sunscreens drops. The answer is no. Sunscreens are considered prescription drugs regulated by the FDA, and except for two ingredients, all ingredients of sunscreen are currently approved by the FDA are synthetic chemicals - some known to be irritating and toxic.

I studied sun care and sun for a while in hopes of finding a breakthrough in natural ingredients that could replace chemical sunscreens prevalent in today's products sun care. Although there are promising developments on the horizon and valid science to support them, we're not there yet.

In the past, having a golden tan is a sign of beauty and health, and protection against the sun was to maximize every opportunity to tan while avoiding the pain and discomfort of burning. Now, valid or not, the consensus among dermatologists and physicians, it seems that sun exposure is harmful and can lead to cancer.

Yet despite the proliferation of products with SPF 30 and over, and most severe blow warnings to never leave your house without sunscreen, the incidence of skin cancer in the United States continues to grow at alarming. So how do you know what your risk is true?

There are several factors that determine your level of risk, including what is your skin type, hereditary factors that may make you more at risk where you live (ie, altitude and latitude), the quantity and the type of fat in your diet if you are taking certain drugs, time of day and duration of exposure, and the greatest predictor of all: how overexposure you had a child and young adult .

If you regularly and religiously apply some form of sun protection, you ask how, when, where and how many times all affect the product's ability to successfully filter the different ultraviolet (UV) rays that damage skin and can cause skin cancer .

Here's a quick summary of what you should know:

UVA and UVB vs.. There is still debate about the type of exposure is more harmful. UVB is what causes sunburn and is also what your body uses to convert sunlight into vitamin D. Most sunscreens protect mainly against UVB, which was initially considered the main cause of skin cancer. Now, there are reasons to believe that UVA rays cause more skin damage in the long term and play a more important role in skin cancer. There is currently no standard for the formulation of "broad spectrum" sunscreens that protect against both. Ironically, the vitamin D that your body receives exposure to UVB plays a vital role in keeping bones and teeth, and helps protect against breast, prostate and colon - a compelling case for a minimum amount of unprotected exposure per day.

Reduced superior performance of the SPFS. There is much confusion about the effectiveness of FPS are really more valuable to provide more protection. Most consumers believe that increased from an SPF 15 to SPF 30 protection and double your amount of time you can stay in the sun. But in fact, because of how SPF is calculated, this step actually offers less than a 4% increase in protection! No FPS will absorb 100% of UV rays, so do not even bother with a product with an SPF higher than 30. There is also a growing concern that the methods of laboratory tests used to determine SPF are not consistent enough to accommodate the vagaries of the use and the actual conditions created by sunlight reality.

Knowing that the SPF values can not be entirely accurate, you should not rely on sunscreen as the only method to protect themselves.

Sunscreen vs. Sunblock. Sunscreens fall into two categories: physical and chemical types Ty.
