Cleopatra (1963 Film)

Cleopatra (1963 Film)When the stars shone in Puerto Vallarta

It was once a beautiful princess met a handsome prince. They fell in love, he bought a villa in Puerto Vallarta, and they lived happily inside and out, for a number of years. Ah, the fairy tales. . . and that happened a stone's throw a few steps from your vacation rental in Puerto Vallarta .

Liz and Dick
You probably know the names of people involved: Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and Casa Kimberly. Many people who call Puerto Vallarta Home cling to fond memories of the golden couple living in the city, because honestly, who does not love a happy ending, no matter how briefly it lasts? (In fact, there was also a strong undercurrent of disapproval at the time, their mutual admiration led to two divorces - four if you count the two they went through together.)

Miss Taylor met Burton when they starred together in 1963 film "Cleopatra", where sources say they have created a chemical burning. Shortly after, she joined him in Puerto Vallarta, when he worked with director John Huston on "Night of the Iguana." And local history was made.

Million Candle Power Star
Some people say that a movie was the beginning of the big time in Puerto Vallarta, and there is no doubt that the film's star power lit up the local scene like a miniature sun. When filming was completed and the teams headed north, the celebrity couple have remained. He presented her with Casa Kimberly as a present for his 32nd birthday, and soon their friends just as bright Hollywood began trouping to the city as guests at the villa.

Finally, Richard Burton bought the house in the street for himself and the couple has built a nice pink walkway on the street to connect the two houses. When she sold her house in 1990, Miss Taylor has left his belongings behind. Today, star gazers can do around the house to see how people lived rich and famous, back in the day.

Casa Kimberly is located at Calle Zaragoza 445, just a few blocks from the Bay of Banderas. Many visitors insist that it is a must for anyone residing in the city, then surely stop. Until very recently, you can go around and try to capture an idea of what it must have been like walking through the excavation of old stars. Today, you will settle for a walk in the street where they lived. . . Then rent a Taylor / Burton film or two, and relax to watch in the comfort of your own fabulous Puerto Vallarta vacation rental .
