Boys Do not Cry 1 star (Terrible)

How can we produce a film Oscar-winning performance for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination and still a very bad movie?

Easy, just do not deliver an important message concerning the understanding and knowledge when you have millions of viewers who are glued to your presentation.

Add Kimberly Peirce credit to cope with an extremely controversial subject in Boys Do not Cry, the true story of Brandon Teena's life, a teenage transsexual who was born of a woman named Teena Brandon preferred life as a man until 'to what he has discovered that "he" was born female.

To say this is a disturbing and powerful film is more than a euphemism when Brandon's biological identity is known, the script gives us an all too familiar scenario of events: the betrayal, humiliation, rape and murder .

Please, Kimberly Peirce, if we want to be a controversial movie for later, do not repeat this scenario because it just reinforces all the stereotypes, prejudices, intolerance, stupidity and transphobia already present in our society and culture.

(I'm not sure what the phobia is for transgender people, so I simply created transphobia because homophobia: an extreme and irrational aversion to homosexuality and homosexuals, which is not Are we talking about here.)

In fairness to Peirce, Boys Do not Cry was his first film as director, and shares screenwriting credits with Andy Bienen. Peirce drew praise minor for the direction and script with the Award for best screenplay Stockholm Film Festival and even a nod for Best Film of the International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival.

However, artistically, it is not even an average film, and certainly not a pleasant experience due to viewing R-rated violence, including an intense brutal rape scene, sexuality, language, drug use and murder . Gee, Lucy was horrified!

The fact is that none of this graphic violence was necessary to make this film and a great movement that creates more understanding and compassion rather than being an unsettling drama of romance gone wrong.

Is Kimberly Peirce's first director / writer whose effort in a dual role breeds more failure than success. All the trophy it won for his direction and writing effort in Boys Do not Cry is a metal rather meaningless because it does little to help viewers better know and understand the transgendered community.

Peirce (terrible rating) joined the club not-so-exclusive male writer / directors who have fallen short, including Vanessa Parise (average rating) for Kiss the Bride, Peter Weir (average rating) for Master and Commander : The Far Side of the World, Nancy Myers (average rating) for Something's Gotta Give, Thomas Bezucha (average rating) for The Family Stone, Michael McGowan (average rating) for Saint Ralph, Jared Hess (Note terrible) for Napoleon Dynamite Robert Rodriguez (terrible rating) for Once Upon a Time in Mexico, and Paul Thomas Anderson (terrible rating) for Punch-Drunk Love.

The absolute worst of the lot is punch-Drunk Love.

Boys Do not Cry must have been a low budget film because the film stars Hilary Swank has won $ 75 per day for the shoot and left with the paltry $ 3,000. What aspiring actors know that Hollywood is not all glamor and wealth.

Hilary Swank returned even if the film did not. She won two Oscars and Golden Globe Awards Best Actress as Brandon Teena. Swank also won 18 other awards for Best Actress less.
