Bloody Murder

So I'm in my bathroom brushing my teeth and I hear a cry as blood murder. So I do not know what to do. So I listen and it keeps going on and on. So I ran to my parents room and wake my mother and my father and they wish too. Have you any idea if an animal can make that? like a crow, perhaps? or a certain type of bird?

It would be helpful if you gave your general position. Nearest town / city and state. Type of space: urban rural area next to the wilderness?

I know an animal that has an appeal as a woman being strangled. I heard once while leading a college tour and camping at night in the desert of southern California: a mountain lion.

Another strong possibility is a Barn Owl. Barn owls do not hoot, they cry. I think it is high on the list of animals you have ever heard. See the link for the call:

Coyotes may seem horrible, but generally not in the periphery areas

Hyenas also .... do you live near a zoo? lol

Banshee or the Tasmanian Devil?

Cats, Screech Owls, even injured rabbits. You'd be surprised how some animals can be safe when they are injured.

Red foxes are supposed to scream as their being murdered in the breeding season.

It is either a panther or mountain lion, they are known to make sounds like that. They are generally more active at night too. For someone who knows the sounds they produce can be very scary. I had a similar situation, and until he was spotted in my area. Hope this helps! :)
