Armageddon: the Bible says Over the centuries, mankind has been fascinated by the concept of Armageddon. Meanwhile, the word has been separated from its original biblical background. The true meaning of Armageddon has been replaced by secular concept of humanity destroying itself. The word is now synonymous with nuclear war, natural disasters, the impact of a comet or an asteroid, and a number of creativity evoked existential threats. Yet, the Bible does not connect one of these events with Armageddon.
Even the most fervent Christians, support the erroneous beliefs about Armageddon. Many correctly view Armageddon as the gathering place of the Antichrist and his armies before the appearance of the glory of Jesus Christ, but they misinterpret the motive of this gathering. A common belief is that these armies gather at or near Armageddon in order to fight with each other, or to annihilate the Jewish people. Then, by the physical intervention of Jesus Christ is humanity saved from either destroying all life or the Jewish people.
But none of these reasons is correct. The Bible clearly states why these armies gather at Armageddon, and once we realize why it is easy to see why most Christians have difficulty believing.
What does the Bible say?
The biblical concept of Armageddon is first introduced by name in the book of the Apocalypse:
"And they gathered all the chiefs and their armies in a place called in Hebrew Armageddon." Apocalypse 16:16 (NLT)
Armageddon is the Hebrew name of a geographical location in Israel known as Megiddo. Megiddo is a hill overlooking the Jezreel Valley. There, in the last days, Satan and the Antichrist will gather world leaders for the battle. As mentioned previously, a common misconception is that they come together to make war against each other. But the passage never says this, and further examination of the context in which this event is, it will be clear that this is not the reason.
Remember, in the last days the Antichrist will be ruler over the entire globe:
"And he was allowed to rule over every tribe, people and language and nation." Apocalypse 13:07 (NLT)
The Antichrist will rule also popular, adored for its incredible power:
"They worshiped the dragon to give the beast such power, and they worshiped the beast." Is there anyone as big as the beast? they cried. 'Who is able to fight against him? " "Apocalypse 1:04 p.m. (NLT)
In addition, the Antichrist will have total control of the purchase and sale of all goods
"He needed everyone - big and small, rich and poor, slave and free - to give a mark on his right hand or forehead. And no man might buy or sell anything without that mark, which was either the name of the beast or the number representing his name. "Apocalypse 13:16-17 (NLT)
With the political, religious, economic and complete, that the army could or would gather them for battle against the Antichrist? Indeed, Revelation 1:04 p.m. ask this question: "Who is able to fight against him?" The Bible is clear that the two armies at Armageddon do not collect against each other. Instead, they are united against a common enemy.
If this is true, who do these armies gather against? The answer lies in the Scriptures, beginning with one of the most overlooked prophecies of the Bible. Almost everyone can tell the story that led to this prophecy, but very few remember the prophecy itself.
The Tower of Babel Prophecy
In Genesis Chapter 11, we learn the story of the Tower of Babel:
"At one time everyone speaks one language and used the same words. As people migrated eastward, they found a PLAI.
